Prophet Mohammad [PBUH]

The Arabian Peninsula [Approximately 7th A.D] encompassed a diverse society. Judaism, Christianity and paganism were predominantly present. However, some pagans had obscure rationale of the Creator, humanity and lifestyle. Judaism and Christianity joined to find a method to counter the repercussions of paganism; and translated the Holy Bible into a literary magical text that could be easily accessible. It was meant to be recited and heard rather than read as a method to persuade and dissuade.

Hence, Islam emerged as a denomination of previous divine religions with a new text-book named The Holy Qur’an revealed through a messenger named Mohammad [PBUH]. In approximately 622 AD the prophet Muhammad and his companions emigrated from Mecca to Medinah because the people of Quraish in Mecca humiliated them.

During the time spent in Medinah, a new group of people referred to as the hypocrites emerged (Adel Haleem, 2004: xviii). They wanted to annihilate the progress of the faith but at the same time not being criticized by others; thus, the faith was used as a shield. “They make their faith a pretext so that they may turn (men) from the way of Allah. Verily evil is that which they are wont to do” (63: 2). The reason why hypocrites wanted to mislead believers is a question to be answered in order to understand the evil intention as a direct repercussion of committing ethical violations and abuse of free will of choice.

The Qur’an had an influence on some people, and was eventually compiled and published in one volume upon the death of Prophet Mohammad [PBUH] during the era of one of his companions named Othman Ibn Affān.

God revealed to Mohammad [PBUH] to say 'O People of the Scripture! Come to an agreement between us: that we shall worship none but God, and that we shall ascribe no partner unto Him, and that none of us shall take others for lords beside God'.
